How to Use BeamYourScreen with your iPhone

iPhone users have the privilege of being able to participate in BeamYourScreen web conferences direct from their handset. However sessions cannot be started from an iPhone, but rather need to be started by the session organizer from a PC.

Starting and joining a BeamYourScreen web conference is a simple two-step process. Below you will find a step-by-step guide with pictures detailing how you can participate in BeamYourScreen web conferences straight from your iPhone.

1. Starting a BeamYourScreen Session

The BeamYourScreen session organizer will first install the small BeamYourScreen application on their PC. Naturally, there is no need for the guests or iPhone users to install anything. Once installed, a “B” icon appears in the system tray in the lower right corner of the computer screen.

To start a BeamYourScreen session, the organizer simply needs to click on the “B” icon and select “Start Session”. Once entering their personal username and password, the BeamYourScreen session info window instantly appears, containing a unique 9-digit session ID:

2. Joining a BeamYourScreen Session with the iPhone

The 9-digit ID is required for you to join the session from your iPhone. Once your session organizer has notified you of the ID, please open Safari on your iPhone and go to www.joinsession.info to access the BeamYourScreen HTML viewer.

Note: you are able to take part in an audio conference during a BeamYourScreen session, simply by making the call before you join the session.

In the fields provided, please enter the 9-digit session ID and your name within Safari.

Upon entering the 9-digit unique ID within the Safari browser, you will initiate a connection between your iPhone and the PC of the BeamYourScreen session organizer. Within only moments, the connection will be established and the session organizer will be notified on their screen that you have joined the session.

At this point you will be viewing the session organizer’s screen straight from you iPhone handset in true color quality and in real time!

3. Operating the iPhone during a BeamYourScreen session

Once you are viewing the session organizer’s screen you may access and control your iPhone features.

Furthermore, accessing the BeamYourScreen HTML viewer from your iPhone allows you to view any application that the session organizer opens on their PC screen, including PDF documents, spreadsheets, websites, etc.

4. Ending the BeamYourScreen session

When you wish to leave the BeamYourScreen session, you can simply close the Safari window and your participation in the desktop sharing session will automatically end.

Upon closing the Safari window, a notification window will appear on the session organizer’s PC screen informing them that you have left the session.
